Inventory Controller – Automotive Parts

With head office operations based in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs, my client is a National organisation specialising in the sales and distribution of automotive parts throughout 30 + branches around Australia.

Due to business growth, they have a newly created role for an experienced inventory controller to join their team.

In this busy role you will be responsible for inventory management and accuracy across the business.  You will ensure costs are managed and ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained at branches and head office, to meet customer and distributor demands.

Key duties will include:

  • Manage supplier and control procurement of all parts and services
  • Manage inventory levels of all parts throughout Australia
  • Develop the company’s inventory management strategy across multiple sites using best inventory management practices.
  • Manage and maintain the company’s product inventory including part numbers, stock profiles and stock locations, to ensure accurate, safe and efficient purchase, receive, pick and dispatch processes.
  • Establish, manage and maintain automatic re-orders systems
  • Manage and control cycle count programs, stock takes, inventory investigations through detailed planning and robust operating procedures
  • Provide detailed reporting to the management team and to the customer on all inventory related topics
  • Use forecast reporting from to ensure components and Bill of Material items are available for kit compilation

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have an operational background in inventory control, ideally within Automotive Parts, FMCG or logistics/supply chain.

You will possess strong planning, organisational and problem solving skills with excellent time management skills.  Your sound communication and interpersonal skills will see you drive change with internal and external stakeholders.

We are seeking a candidate with advanced MS Excel experience with the ability to conduct detailed data analysis and reporting.

Being a newly created role, you will be a pro-active team player with a focus on continuous improvements and improving operational efficiencies.
